Each joint features a forged SAE 1045 solid steel housing for maximum durability and a hot-forged SAE 4140 Chromoly ball stud—heat-treated and polished to exact tolerances for superior strength under load. Apex’s military-grade acetal bearing eliminates metal-on-metal wear, providing ultra-smooth articulation and long-term reliability even under extreme stress.

Precision CNC machining, induction heat treatment, and E-coating ensure consistent performance and corrosion resistance, while the integral pancake-style CR rubber boot seals out contaminants and withstands harsh environmental abuse. With pre-threaded zerk fittings, gull-wing grease grooves, and pre-greased internals, installation and maintenance are clean, easy, and professional-grade.

HOUSING

  • SAE 1045 Solid Steel Forged Housing: This is unequivocally the best carbon alloy steel for this application.
  • Knurled Housings: The preferred design for aftermarket installations.

BALL STUDS

  • SAE 4140 hot forged Chromoly Ball Studs: For the strongest possible metallurgy.
  • Induction Heat Treated Ball Studs: Provides a very precise heat treatment to the exact depth and location we want it.
  • Polished Ball Studs: Are built like an anti-friction bearing with extremely precise tolerances.
  • Rolled Threads: Are made by pressing the shape of the threads into the ball stud instead of cutting. This strengthens the threads instead of weakening them and allows for easy movement of hardware. This ain't no Ikea furniture!
  • Step Threads: Allows for very easy movement of hardware on install and superior holding when torqued (installer choice).

BEARING DESIGN
