PMF Suspension Floating Ladder Traction Bar System 08-10 Ford F-250/F-350

Now you're making big power numbers in your 6.4L Powerstroke and you're trying your hand at drag racing, or sled pulling. Who doesn't love seeing an 08-10 Ford Super Duty doing some heavy work? Well, it won't be very impressive if you can't put that power down to the ground. Apart from drag radials, the rear suspension needs attention to hold the axle in place, so it doesn't hop around, or even worse, wrap itself hard enough to fall off the truck. The answer? PMF Floating Traction Bars.

When adding traction bars there are many factors to consider as there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution for every application. There are two mainstream designs, ladder bars which are a multi-point solution and anti-wrap bars which are single bar designs. Either design works to decrease or prevent axle wrap and wheel hop by stabilizing the rear axle under acceleration. However, the ladder bar design features two mounting points on the axle and more efficiently increases rear traction by transferring additional weight to the rear axle as it tries to lift the front of the bar. This simple redistribution of force has been popular among drag racers for decades.

PMF have taken the traditional ladder bar and taken it to a new level. Their design has a "floating" shackle on the frame side to allow the suspension to cycle without binding, hence the name. With PMF's design, you eliminate axle wrap, wheel hop and give your truck a secure planted feeling under acceleration and braking. As a bonus, the kit soothes harsh shifts and helps the truck to launch straight so you don't end up in the wrong kind of YouTube video.

This style of traction bar is best suited for drag racing and sled pull applications. With the way these bars are designed, they need to sit level to the ground. Trucks with decent sized lifts would be better suited with a PMF Single Bar Series system as they tuck to the bottom of the truck tighter and maintain ground clearance.

The triangulated bars are built from 1.5" .120 wall DOM tubing and then gusseted to prevent any unwanted axle movement. Unlike other bars of similar design, PMF uses a forged poly joint on the axle side and uni-ball joints on the frame side. This prevents squeaks, rattles, and premature replacement of associated parts. Be wary of kits that use heim joints on the axle side. Over time wear will cause them to creak and clunk. Don’t be fooled by less expensive setups that will leave you with bent or broken bars.

All bushings supplied in PMF's kits are heavy-duty poly and serviceable grease zerks are included to prevent squeaks. Both the front and rear of the traction bar are adjustable to allow you to fine tune the bars even if suspension lift sizes are later changed. PMF's kits will work on both single and dual rear wheel truck applications.

FITMENT NOTE:
  • The frame will need to be drilled for the front traction bar mount. Additional frame modifications may be needed for the frame mounts depending on skid plate and fuel pump configuration.
